Robert was the lead designer and project architect for this commercial development in Shipley, creating a new company headquarters, manufacturing and distribution centre. The previously vacant site forms part of prominent gateway to the Saltaire World Heritage Site, and is situated within the World Heritage Site buffer zone and Leeds Liverpool Canal Conservation Area.
The design response was to create a strong corner and perimeter façade to the road, emphasising the landmark quality of the building from the street as a sequence of serial viewpoints. Views from within the internal spaces are carefully composed to reference and frame existing landmarks in the surrounding area.
