Who we are

3xa Design started life as a small collaborative group of architects working on speculative design projects. Our architectural practice launched formally in 2014 and is an ongoing creative partnership between founders Robert Blundell and Jo Lintonbon.

We are based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, the industrial village and now World Heritage Site, recognised in its time for its model and innovative design as a planned urban community.

Our design approach is very much informed by the following values:

People matter
Everyone deserves good design in their lives.

We listen
Understanding and analysing what you need is an important part of our design process.

We design in response to place
New design invariably changes settings and landscapes, but sensitive design enhances existing buildings and spaces.

You are invested in your project
Financially or emotionally, we understand that your project matters to you and we are invested in realising its potential

The best solution for you may not be a new building
Our aim is to reorganise your use of space and think about your resources to support a more sustainable future, environmentally, economically and functionally

What we do

We offer a comprehensive professional architectural service that can be tailored to suit your project’s size and complexity and your individual requirements. Our services include initial development capacity and feasibility studies, early conceptual building design, design coordination and planning, detailed design and construction information production, tender preparation, services during construction and following the completion of projects. We also undertake interior design, urban design and master-planning studies, and public consultation or engagement work, particularly supporting funding strategies for community and third sector clients. We are happy to assist you in assembling a full design team for professional services or to work with you as part of a pre-assembled team.
